Without a library a college seems incomplete. A well-equipped library is a great asset to a college. It is useful for the students and teachers too. It helps to boost knowledge as well. A huge variety of book collections is available in our college library. The college library offers 12,737 volumes, 4 journals and 5,750 titles. It has almost all updated books on various subjects. It is managed by an experienced Librarian. The Students with ID cards are allowed to read books at the library or borrow books. It is also provided with an internet connection. The students are also provided with the facility of the National Digital Library (https://ndl.iitkgp.ac.in/) provided by AICTE.
Government Polytechnic for Women, Bheemunipatnam has an attached Hostel facility with Ground plus Two storied building that can accommodate 300-350 students. The hostel has a Warden who is responsible for the discipline, maintenance of building, allotment of rooms, etc. and two deputy wardens from the teaching faculty of the college who are responsible for student leaves and outings. The hostel staff consists of hostel manager, accountant and other maintenance staff. It is a students managed hostel. Hostel rooms have cots, a study table, a chair and cupboards. Hostel has Electricity and water supply, common telephone, common TV room, etc. Adequate dining facilities are available with a clean mess. Scholarship is also provided to the students by the government of Andhra Pradesh.
SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. SWAYAM comprises of nine national coordinators like AICTE, NIOS, NITTTR, IIMB, NPTEL, IGNOU, CEC, NCERT and UGC and offers 500 plus courses. The local chapter opens the window for all Faculty, staff and students to all these courses. This is done through a platform that facilitates hosting of all the courses, taught in classrooms from Class 9 till post-graduation to be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time. All the courses are interactive, prepared by the best teachers in the country and are available, free of cost to any learner. More than 1,000 specially chosen faculty and teachers from across the country have participated in preparing these courses. The courses hosted on SWAYAM are in 4 quadrants (1) video lecture, (2) specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed (3) self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes and (4) an online discussion forum for clearing the doubts. Steps have been taken to enrich the learning experience by using audio-video and multi-media and state of the art pedagogy / technology.
